FCA gets keys to its new HQ at International Quarter London in Stratford

27th March 2018

The UK’s primary financial regulatory body will occupy 425,000 sq. ft. over 15 levels in the new office building. Some 3,800 FCA staff will be relocating to the site from the FCA’s current headquarters at Canary Wharf, where it has been since the early 1990s. The move comes as the FCA’s lease on their current headquarters expires shortly

FCA staff will have access to their own gym, a roof terrace the size of three tennis courts and a 200-seat auditorium with the London Stadium as its backdrop. Employees will also benefit from the area’s unrivalled transport links, shopping and leisure facilities and an abundance of green open spaces.

The new building was designed by architects Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners to emulate the very latest thinking behind progressive ways of working. With the health and wellbeing of its occupants at the very forefront, it boasts stunning views of the City of London, as well as innovative design features. Closed Cavity Facade cladding monitors the position of the sun and adjusts the blinds accordingly, working with multi-service chilled beams to keep temperatures comfortable in the building without compromising on maximising natural light for its occupants from the floor to ceiling windows. 100% fresh air is circulated throughout the workspace, forming a healthy and stimulating environment to work in.

Jonathan Emery, Managing Director Property Europe for Lendlease said:

“We hope staff will feel very welcome at the Financial Conduct Authority’s new home at International Quarter London. The building provides extensive facilities in a modern office space, all sitting alongside the great amenities of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.”

Georgina Philippou, Chief Operating Officer at the FCA said:

“This is an exciting time for the FCA as we move into our new purpose-built headquarters. Our modern offices will bring all London staff under one roof for the first time and offer a mix of excellent facilities, value for money, sustainability and the right infrastructure to meet our future needs. We look forward to settling in and playing a part in our new local community. We will be moving to our offices over the summer.”

David Joy, Chief Executive of LCR said:

“The completion of the FCA’s new building marks another step towards International Quarter London becoming London’s new home for progressive business. The continuing successful development of IQL truly confirms Stratford as London’s most exciting new Metropolitan City Centre.”
