London and Continental Railways (LCR) has today announced its intention to re-market its Oxpens Road site in Oxford, following the recent withdrawal of Exemplar who were previously selected as LCR’s preferred partner from the sale process.
A limited number of developers who have previously expressed interest in the site, together with Oxford City Council who own adjoining land, are being invited to bid for the 7.9 acre site.
David Joy, Chief Executive of LCR said:
“We have been working closely with Oxford City Council to progress plans for the Oxpens site, which presents one of the most significant development opportunities within Oxford city centre.
“After much consideration, and following a thorough process to secure a developer for the site, we have decided to bring our share of the site forward for unconditional sale. The bidders that were unsuccessful in the original process, and the Council, are being invited to put forward bids for the land.
“This site has the potential to deliver up to 200 much needed homes for Oxford as part of the City’s Regeneration Framework.
“This sale is about releasing public land to move the development forward as quickly as possible.”
