LCR have commenced public consultation on a proposed change of use for a series of arches along Leake Street, beneath the former Eurostar Terminal at Waterloo. The plan is to convert the spaces, which are currently used for car parking, into commercial units which would be suitable for a range of uses including cafes, bars and restaurants
The project is intended to support the wider regeneration of Waterloo alongside major schemes such as the Shell Centre and Elizabeth House redevelopments, whilst also protecting and maintaining the continued use of the Leake Street tunnel as a ‘graffiti wall’ and hub for creative activity.
LCR intends to submit a planning application for the project to Lambeth Council later this summer. The arches are owned by the Department for Transport, with LCR acting as agents for the DfT’s assets at Waterloo. For further information see www.leakestreetarches.london
