Work has started at the RTC Business Park in Derby to support the growth of the engineering sector in the city and the Deputy Leader of Derby City Council, Councillor Martin Rawson and David Joy, Chief Executive of London and Continental Railways met to mark the occasion.
The RTC Business Park will be one of the major employment sites in Derby and the project will deliver refurbishment works that will improve the rail related workshop and research facilities. Over 10,000m2 of commercial office space will also be refurbished with comfort cooling, double glazing and other measure to achieve high standards of sustainability. The current workforce at the site will be expanded to around 1,300 with an estimated 200 new skilled jobs created by 2016. The refurbishment works should be completed by the end of 2015.
