The Railway Technical Centre (RTC) Business Park in Derby is to benefit from a £6m upgrade to its facilities, made possible by joint funding from LCR and Derby City Council’s Regional Growth Fund (RGF).
The 28 acre site is one of Derby’s major employment centres, with a workforce of around 1,000 in predominantly highly skilled roles. It is estimated that 200 new skilled jobs will be created through investment in the modernisation programme, which will see enhancements to rail-connected workshops as well as the refurbishment of over 40,000 sq ft of office accommodation.
£2.24m of funding has been awarded to the programme by Derby City Council from the Government’s RGF, which supports the use of private sector investment to create economic growth and sustainable employment. LCR will invest £3.8m of match funding.
Works are to start on site this summer, with completion expected by April 2015.
